Family seeks justice after loved one shot to death in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Amariyon Wilson would’ve turned 21 years old in a little under two weeks.

But now, instead of planning a birthday, his family is working to plan his funeral and said all they want is justice and closure.

Wilson was killed in Hampton on Orcutt Avenue early Saturday morning.

His father, Michael Hill, remembered the moment he heard the tragic news.

“I was on a trip, and it blew me away — my son,” Hill said. “The only thing I want is justice — me and my family.”

The only thing that could make him smile was to think about who his son was in life.

“He was a good guy, a good person,” Hill said. “And I loved him to the bottom of my heart.”

Yvonne Goodman, Amariyon’s grandma, only had one thing to say.

“He was just a lovable person,” Goodman said. “He didn’t deserve this at all.”

Lisa Penn, Amariyon’s aunt, had tears falling from her face as she looked at a picture of her nephew.

“I feel hurt, sad,” Penn said as she thought back to when she found out Amariyon was gone. “I couldn’t do anything but scream.”

She told 10 On Your Side he was an avid rapper.

“That was his passion and they took that from him,” Penn said.

She had a message for the suspect and anyone who might know anything about Amariyon’s death.

“Whoever did it, please come forward,” she said. “Anybody who knows anything, please, because our heart is so heavy.”

Hampton Police said there are no current updates in the case.
