Brandy and Monica announce 24-city ‘The Boy Is Mine’ tour, head to Hampton Coliseum

(NEXSTAR) – Twenty-seven years after the release of their song “The Boy Is Mine,” Brandy and Monica are planning to continue their fierce debate over whom this boy actually belongs to.

The two recording artists behind the 1998 hit single are coming together for a 24-city “The Boy Is Mine” tour, which is scheduled to kick off on Oct. 16 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The tour will make a stop in Hampton Roads, at the Hampton Coliseum on Nov. 23, 2025. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, July 2 at 10 a.m., but fans can “RSVP” online for an email reminder.

“They were trying to get us to do a tour since ’98 and it just finally felt like the right time,” Brandy said during a Tuesday appearance on “CBS Mornings.”

Brandy and Monica also announced the tour on social media via a dramatic short film in which both women are locked up in a soundproof (maybe?) asylum and forbidden to harmonize or duet with each other. By the end of the video, of course, the pair had somehow broken free.

Supporting acts on “The Boy Is Mine” tour will include Kelly Rowland, of Destiny’s Child, as well as singer-songwriter Muni Long and recent “American Idol” winner Jamal Roberts.

Tour dates announced thus far include:

Brandy and Monica released “The Boy Is Mine” as the lead single from Brandy’s 1998 album “Never Say Never” and Monica’s 1998 album “The Boy Is Mine.” The song quickly went to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also won a Grammy in 1999 for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group.

In addition to “The Boy Is Mine,” Brandy and Monica also collaborated on the 2012 song “It All Belongs to Me.”
