GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) — A search is underway for a man who went missing at a beach in Gloucester on Sunday evening, officials say.
According to officials, a 911 call was made just before 4:30 p.m. about a man who did not resurface after going into the York River. The missing man, identified as 50-year-old Steven Kendall Wright, of Richmond, was unable to be located on Sunday, but officials said the search will continue on through Monday.
Wright was last seen at Gloucester Point Beach Park, according to Major Ryan Cookson of the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office.
The search effort includes personnel from Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office, United States Coast Guard, Camp Peary and Abingdon Volunteer Fire Department.
Officials said Wright is described as 5-foot-11-inches and around 220 pounds. Wright has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing red or green shorts and no shirt. A photo of Wright can be seen below:

Anyone with any information on Wright’s whereabouts or who was in the area of Gloucester Point Beach at the time of Wright’s disappearance is asked to contact Inv. A. Krause with the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 804-693-4139.
