GLOUCESTER COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — The 2025 Police Unity Tour will kick off Saturday in Gloucester County.
The annual ride honors law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty like Lt. Terry Singleton, who suffered a fatal heart attack while participating in a training exercise with the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit. He served with the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office for eight years.
Law enforcement from all over the country will ride bicycles to the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial in Washington. This year’s group consists of approximately 100 cyclists, 20 motorcycle officers and 60 support personnel.
Riders will enter Gloucester County at the foot of the Coleman Bridge at approximately 1 p.m. and proceed north of George Washington Memorial Highway. Once at TC Walker Road, the group will make a right turn to alleviate traffic on George Washington Memorial Highway. They will then continue down TC Walker Road to Newington Baptist Church, where riders will take a brief break. Afterwards, they will continue north on George Washington Memorial Highway towards Saluda, leaving Gloucester County between 3:30-4:00 p.m.
