GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) — Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue responded to a commercial structure fire on George Washington Memorial Highway Wednesday night.

According to officials, around 9:50 p.m., crews were dispatched to the 2000 block of George Washington Memorial Highway for reports of a commercial structure fire.

Crews arrived to the scene and found active fire coming from the back of the building, where they then requested mutual aid.

Crews remained at the scene for approximately an hour and were able to ensure the fire was contained to the room of origin. The business was said to have been closed at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
