CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A suspect was taken into custody Tuesday evening after the Chesapeake SWAT team was activated to the 1300 block of Canal Drive at the Marina Point Apartments, according to Chesapeake police.

CPD says the SWAT team was activated around 3 p.m. as part of a long-term investigation.
As a result, officers arrested 21-year-old Rodney Rogers and charged him with reckless handling of a firearm causing serious injury, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, discharge of a firearm in a public place, discharge of a firearm from a motor vehicle and brandishing of a firearm.
Rogers is currently being held without bond at the Chesapeake City Jail.
