NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — There was yet another crash at the Popeyes on Hampton Blvd. in Norfolk on Thursday.

The Popeyes and the area around it has been the site of multiple crashes over the years, including one in 2022 that caused significant damage and left the restaurant’s dining area boarded up for quite some time.

Injuries were reported in Thursday’s crash around 8:50 p.m., but were non life-threatening, police say. The restaurant didn’t appear to be impacted. Skid marks in the parking lot appear to show two motorcycles were involved.

WAVY contacted police to get an update on the crash, including if anyone was cited or charged. We’ll update this story whenever we hear back.

WAVY also reached out to Popeyes last year about this issue, including whether they would add additional barriers, but didn’t hear back. Records shared by Norfolk police from the last few years showed just one other crash into the building that was unreported at the time, though there were several crashes in that span that were close.

Many of the crashes in the area involve the curve in the road heading west on W. Little Creek Road, with drivers crashing into nearby power poles. The Popeyes is right where the road curves heading toward the Hampton Blvd. light.
