GREENSVILLE COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Three people are dead after a single-vehicle crash in Greensville County, Virginia, Thursday afternoon.

Virginia State Police said troopers responded to the crash around 3:50 p.m. on Slagles Lake Road near Water Wheel Road.

Preliminary investigation by troopers indicates 30-year-old Raven Symone Mason, 30, of Jarratt, was driving a Ford Taurus northbound on Slagles Lake Road when she lost control and ran off the roadway and struck a guardrail. After striking the guardrail, the car continued down an embankment and was airborne before it landed in a creek bank.

Mason and two 10-year-old girls in the back seat all died upon impact. All occupants were wearing seat belts.

Police said speed is considered a factor in the crash.

Notification has been made to family members.

Troopers were still on scene as of 4:45 p.m. All lanes were blocked at that time, but reopened by 8 p.m.

Police did not release additional information.
