GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A Guilford County woman takes on the toughest reality show on TV.
40-year-old Fairland Ferguson faces 21 days in the jungle with no food, water, shelter, or clothes on the Discovery Channel show “Naked and Afraid.”
Ferguson works as the General Manager of a horse farm in Greensboro. She grew up in the Triad and was an adventure seeker from a young age, from trick riding horses to cliff diving. /
So, when a friend suggested she try the reality show, “Naked and Afraid,” Ferguson was all for it. Last year, she traveled to Colombia, South America for the 21-day challenge.
The crew dropped her off in the middle of the jungle with nothing but a complete stranger for a partner. “For about 4 seconds I was like oh my Gosh I’m meeting this person and I’m naked. Then, instantly you’re like it’s very hot. We have no water. We have no food. What are we doing? This map makes no sense. It very quickly became the absolute last thing when it comes to the worrisome priorities,” Ferguson said.
And what was even more surprising, there’s no prize money if you make it all 21 days. So of course, Shannon Smith had to find out why she was to try the challenge.
You can watch the episode that Ferguson appears on Sunday at 8 p.m. on Discovery Channel.
