NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A father is facing jail time after his 3-year-old son was found wandering the 300 block of Jury Lane at 6:45 a.m. Monday.
Police say Miguel Nichols was nowhere to be found that morning after several calls came in for a juvenile wandering the area.
Police arrived to locate one child walking outside and two more asleep on the couch in Nichols’ home.
Nichols returned home during the investigation. He says he had to leave for an urgent matter.
Child Protective Services responded and Nichols was taken into custody and charged with three counts of abuse/neglect child: disregard for life.
The children, ages 3, 4 and 5, were released into the custody of relatives.
