RICHMOND, Va. (WAVY) – The Virginia Department of Elections has announced that early in-person voting for the Nov. 4 elections will begin Friday, Sept. 19.
To vote early in-person, officials say registered voters should go to any desginated early voting location in the jurisdiction in which they are registered and present valid identification. Voting locations vary by jurisdiction, and can set their own dates and times accordingly. To find the early voting office nearest to you, visit the link here.
Curbside voting will also be available for those over the age of 65 and those with disabilities. Officials say you should contact your general registrar’s office for more information regarding these services. You can find that information here.
Requested absentee ballots will also begin to be mailed out no later than Sept. 19. A full timeline of important dates for the Nov. 4 election cycle can be found below:
- Sept. 19 – Early voting begins.
- Oct. 24 – Deadline to register to vote and cast a regular ballot.
- Oct. 24 – Last day to request an absentee ballot by mail or online.
- Oct. 25 – Same-day registration begins. Anyone registering and voting at the same time will have to cast a provisional ballot.
- Nov. 1 – Last day of early voting.
- Nov. 4 – Election Day
- Nov. 7 – All mailed ballots must be received by the general registrar’s office by noon.
- Nov. 14 – Deadline for local electoral board to certify provisional ballots.
- Dec. 1 – State Board of Elections certifies results.
