NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk Police have charged a 42-year-old woman following a stabbing that left another woman dead.
According to police, officers were called to the 900 block of Tunstall Ave. just before midnight for the report of a stabbing. When officers arrived on scene, they found a woman with stab wounds.
The woman, later identified as Taniya P. Scott, 22, of Norfolk, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Commonwealth’s Attorney Ramin Fatehi told 10 On Your Side that Scott died from her injuries.
“I was pleased to hear that the police had made a relatively quick arrest in this case,” Fatehi said, “thanks to technology, license plate cameras and also having adequate numbers of officers on the street.”
Court documents reveal that the suspect, 42-year-old Crystal N. Wesby, was observed by several witnesses in an altercation with Scott. A witness testified to police that they heard Scott say, “she stabbed me, I’m going to die.” The documents also state that witnesses saw Websy place a knife in her pants while leaving the scene.
Websy’s vehicle was then found nearby the scene with blood stains and a knife. Websy then allegedly returned to the vehicle covered in blood, according to documents.
Photos from the scene show a heavy police presence with multiple officers investigating the area.

Detectives have charged Wesby with second-degree murder. Wesby was arrested in the 800 block of Bagnall Road and is currently being held in Norfolk City Jail without bond.
