RICHMOND, VA. (WAVY) — On Oct. 3, the Virginia State Police (VSP) announced that operations with both federal and local agencies recovered firearms, seized narcotics and U.S. currency, investigated human trafficking, and received gaming-related reported tips.
Every week, the VSP sends out a press release of uncovered crime throughout those 7 days. The week of Sept. 24 – Sept. 30 release highlighted the following:
Firearms
- 39 recovered firearms, valued at $20,000
Narcotics
- 304.5 pounds in total seized narcotics
- Denied revenue from seized narcotics: $1,827,001
- Narcotics recovered:
- Cocaine: 4.4 pounds
- Crack Cocaine: 2.3 pounds
- Heroin: 2.4 pounds
- Psilocybin: 3.5 ounces
- Methamphetamine: 3.7 pounds
- Marijuana: 291 pounds
- Fentanyl: 7.1 ounces
- THC vapes: 10.05 pounds
- THC dab: 7.61 ounces
- U.S Currency: $6,070
Human Trafficking
- 19 new human trafficking tips received (1,254 total to date).
- Cases investigated or currently under investigation: 237
- Individual investigative activities: 3,308
- Victims identified and offered services: 72
Gaming Enforcement
- 12 gaming-related tips received (1,883 total to date).
Gaming enforcement refers to the Gaming Enforcement Unit helps to promote and enable the equitable enforcement of gaming laws within the Commonwealth.
