RICHMOND, VA. (WAVY) — On Oct. 3, the Virginia State Police (VSP) announced that operations with both federal and local agencies recovered firearms, seized narcotics and U.S. currency, investigated human trafficking, and received gaming-related reported tips.

Every week, the VSP sends out a press release of uncovered crime throughout those 7 days. The week of Sept. 24 – Sept. 30 release highlighted the following:

Firearms

  • 39 recovered firearms, valued at $20,000

Narcotics

  • 304.5 pounds in total seized narcotics
  • Denied revenue from seized narcotics: $1,827,001
  • Narcotics recovered:
    • Cocaine: 4.4 pounds
    • Crack Cocaine: 2.3 pounds
    • Heroin: 2.4 pounds
    • Psilocybin: 3.5 ounces
    • Methamphetamine: 3.7 pounds
    • Marijuana: 291 pounds
    • Fentanyl: 7.1 ounces
    • THC vapes: 10.05 pounds
    • THC dab: 7.61 ounces
  • U.S Currency: $6,070

Human Trafficking

  • 19 new human trafficking tips received (1,254 total to date).
    • Cases investigated or currently under investigation: 237
    • Individual investigative activities: 3,308
    • Victims identified and offered services: 72

Gaming Enforcement

  • 12 gaming-related tips received (1,883 total to date).

Gaming enforcement refers to the Gaming Enforcement Unit helps to promote and enable the equitable enforcement of gaming laws within the Commonwealth.
