NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — The Newport News Police Department responded to a fatal shooting at the intersection of 31st Street and Roanoke Avenue.
According to officials, around 10:40 p.m. on Aug. 19, officers were dispatched to the intersection of 31st Street and Roanoke Avenue for reports of a shooting.
Officers arrived to the scene and found and adult male, later identified as 54-year-old Marvin Jackson, suffering from a gunshot wound. Jackson was transferred to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
