NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A 27-year-old man has been charged in connection to a fatal double shooting on Old Dominion University’s campus.
On Feb. 26, Norfolk Police and Old Dominion University Police were called to the 1400 block of West 49th Street around 9:40 p.m. for the report of a gunshot victim.
Upon arrival, 18-year-old Delanio M. Vick Jr. and 20-year-old Timothy G. Williams Jr. were found suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
The two victims were taken to the hospital where they later succumbed to their injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting happened in a parking lot near the Broderick Dining Commons between parties who are not affiliated with the university.
Detectives charged Dequan J. Tyler of Norfolk, with possession of a firearm by a felon.
Tyler was taken into custody by Chesapeake Police on Tuesday and is currently being held without bond in Chesapeake City Jail. Tyler is also facing additional unrelated charges from Chesapeake Police.
Detectives have not released any additional details surrounding this investigation.
