HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY)– Police in Hampton need the public’s assistance in locating a man connected to a fatal motor vehicle crash.
Police need help locating Eric T. Jones, Jr. in connection with a fatal crash that occurred on April 8 at the intersection of West Mercury Boulevard and Martha Lee Drive. After investigating, it was determined that two vehicles were racing westbound on West Mercury Boulevard at high rates of speed.

Jones was identified as the driver of the second vehicle, which was not directly involved in the collision. Actions taken by Jones during the course of events, however, were determined to be a direct cause of the crash, police said.
Officers were called to the intersection at 3:18 p.m. for an accident involving three vehicles. One patient was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening. 73-year-old Lucille McPherson of Newport News was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police also arrested 32-year-old Ajani Wiggins. He is charged with one count each of involuntary manslaughter, driving suspended and other traffic offenses.
