Chesapeake man gets added 52-year prison sentence for sexual assault of minor

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A Chesapeake man who had already been sentenced in federal court to 36 years in prison for creating child porn was sentenced Monday in Chesapeake Circuit Court to an additional 52 years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor, the Chesapeake Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office said.

Chesapeake Circuit Court Judge Marjorie A. Taylor Arrington suspended another 153 years for Jonathan R. Wilson, 37, on condition of an indeterminate period of supervised probation and good behavior, along with complying with the Virginia State Police sex offender registry. He pleaded guilty last Sept. 16 to forcible rape, indecent liberties by a custodian, forcible sodomy and aggravated sexual battery.

Wilson admitted to performing sexual acts with a child starting when she was just 2-years-old, and the abuse continued for two years, according to evidence presented by the Chesapeake Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office. He had already been convicted in federal court of creating child sexual abuse material from the sexual acts Wilson pleaded guilty to.

It was in January 2022 when Chesapeake detectives learned that the IP address associated with Wilson’s home was uploading child sexual abuse material, with detectives learning the child in the photos was one he had physical access to.

“This monster should never walk on our streets again,” the victim’s mother said previously in a statement to 10 On Your Side. “He does not belong in our society.”

His 16 felony guilty pleas included three counts of sodomy and two counts of rape involving a victim under the age of 13. The other counts involved taking indecent liberties with a child and aggravated sexual battery.

Wilson had pleaded guilty in 2023 to creating child porn, and was already serving 36 years in prison for that.
