A year later, arrests made in Suffolk double shooting that left one dead

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Three arrests have been made just short of a year after a double shooting in Suffolk that left a man dead and another injured. 

Joshua James Williams, Justin Stephen Fransee and Anthony Rayshawn Hale, all of Suffolk, have all been arrested and charged with multiple felonies in connection to a July 1, 2017, shooting on Gloucester Street, according to a press release from the city.

Police say Williams, 19, and Fransee, 20, have both been charged with involuntary manslaughter, use or display firearm in commission of felony and conspiracy to commit a felony. Williams has also been charged with attempt to commit non-capital offense. 

Hale, 22, was arrested a day later on July 3 and charged with involuntary manslaughter, robbery, use of display firearm in commission of felony (2 counts), brandishing a firearm, attempt to commit non-capital offense, conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of burglary tools and wearing a mask in public. 

On that summer night around 11:30 p.m., police were dispatched to Gloucester Street after receiving a call that a man had been shot near downtown. 

Officers arrived on scene and found 21-year-old Anthony Hale on the ground. He survived his injuries after being airlifted to the hospital. 

Around 30 minutes later, police found a second man lying next to a house on the same block. The victim, 26-year-old Brandon Hudgins, died from his injuries.
