PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — One man was killed and another was injured in a shooting Wednesday night on Dunedin Road in Portsmouth, police say.
Portsmouth police said officers and medics responded to a call for help in the 600 block of Dunedin around 4:15 p.m.
Responding officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
A 24-year-old man with was shot in the upper body, and a 23-year-old man was shot in the hand, police said.
The 23-year-old died as a result of his injuries, police said. He has been identified as Nathaniel Byrd of Chesapeake.
Officers returned to the scene Thursday to hold a RESET (Rapid Engagement of Support in the Event of Trauma) walk.
Police said no additional information was available.
