NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The kitchens are closed on Downtown Norfolk Restaurant Week. Sunday was the last day for the event that encourages the community to experience local food options with special deals at select businesses. At Seldon Market, customers indulged in The Stockpot’s brunch offerings.

“We are what we call ‘healthy comfort food’ or ‘feel-good’ food,” explained Lauren Kostka, general manager at The Stockpot Norfolk.

She said this week was a success for the business.

“Restaurant week has been really busy. I’ve definitely seen a lot of new first-time guests coming out, which obviously you’re going to love to see,” she said about the family-owned business. “People are looking for value nowadays because, especially with the way the economy has been, we try to make it meaningful, and we want people to get what they’re paying for.”

Keeping tables filled means more than just keeping the doors open for The Stockpot Norfolk. They help organizations in need of funding every month, including during restaurant week.

“You’re getting a nice quality. You’re supporting a locally owned business that gives back to the community. We do charity work every month. We have a charity of the month where we give back to the community. This month is going to be Evelyn’s Wildlife Refuge in Chesapeake,” Kostka said about their efforts.

Although today is the final day of Downtown Norfolk Restaurant Week, customers can still catch a great deal Monday through Friday.

“We do have a Selden Breakfast Special every Monday through Friday until 10 a.m. We open at 7 a.m. You can get a biscuit with sausage, ham, bacon and a coffee or tea for $5.50. I say, it’s cheaper than Mcdonald’s, and it’s made here!”
