PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Former Saturday Night Live cast member and Chesapeake native, Jay Pharoah, is bringing his comedy show to Portsmouth.

“We are thrilled to welcome back hometown hero, Jay Pharoah, and look forward to bringing some of SNL’s best belly laughs to The Event Center,” said Steve Tortorello, Vice President of Marketing, Rivers Casino Portsmouth, in a press release.

Pharoah, a stand-up comedian and actor, was born and raised in Chesapeake.

He has made quite a name for himself in comedy. Most notably, he was on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” for a six-season run. During his time there, he established himself with his impressive comedic and acting abilities. He’s best known for his incredible impressions.

His career has since skyrocketed. He has starred and been featured in a range of projects. Some include “Spinning Gold,” “All in the Family,” and most recently Netflix’s “Resort to Love.”

“Jay’s talent, humor, and connection to the local community will make this show especially memorable and enjoyable for our guests.” said Tortorello.

The “SNL” alum is currently on tour and set to bring his show to his home state.

Pharoah’s show will be featured in The Event Center at Rivers Casino Portsmouth on Saturday, March 29 at 8 p.m.
