NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Wednesday to mark the beginning of the $25 million expansion project of the Barry Art Museum at Old Dominion University.

The expansion will add a 25,000 square foot three-story wing that will include a multiuse event space, a community gallery, a media video gallery, an educational laboratory and expanded art storage.

The event will take place outside the museum on 1075 West 43rd Street in Norfolk from 2-3:30 p.m.

Speakers will include ODU President Brian O. Hemphill, Barry Art Museum Interim Executive Director Robert Wojtowicz, Barry Art Museum Co-Founder Carolyn Barry, ODU Real Estate Foundation Chairperson Lisa Chandler and Barry Art Museum Board President Lewis Webb, III.
