HRS: Celebrating the World’s oldest ham

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Do you love a simple ham sandwich, or maybe a baked ham for the holidays? Typically ham lasts a few days in the fridge before its time to move on. But this piece of ham beat the odds! July 12, 2025 marks the 123rd birthday of the oldest edible ham in the world, and its located right in our backyard. Jennifer England with the Isle of Wight County Museum joined us to share all the history, high spirits and ham, visitors can expect at Hammy’s birthday celebration. You’re invited you to kick off the party with them “Night at the Museum” stuffed animal sleepover event, for children, this Friday at 6 p.m. Then the big birthday party is Saturday July 12, at 1 p.m., complete with games and a cake cutting.
