CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Coming into Saturday, Oscar Smith football was 25-1 against Indian River since 1999. That dominance didn’t stop this time either. The Tigers took down Indian River 33-20 on their home field to move to 2-1 on the season.

Lonnie Andrews and Travis Johnson were linking up from the very beginning of the game. On the second play from scrimmage, Johnson caught an Andrews screen pass, and exploded down the sideline for a 74-yard touchdown to open the scoring account.

Standout Indian River freshman quarterback Lord Malik Heru threw an interception on the Braves’ first drive, which led to more Smith points.

Andrews and Johnson connected on three touchdowns Saturday, as Johnson had 174 receiving yards. Heru and Indian River were down 33-7 at halftime, but made it interesting late, scoring two second-half touchdowns. The Braves are now also 2-1 on the year.
