PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — The Portsmouth pavilion has a new name — Union Bank & Trust Pavilion.
The new sponsorship and corresponding logo was unveiled Wednesday morning at the pavilion.
Union CEO John Asbury said, “Today marks a new chapter in the City of Portsmouth’s rich history, and Union is excited to be a part of it.” He added that Union Bank & Trust customers can expect to see benefits from this agreement. “Through this partnership, we hope to reward loyal Union customers with special benefits to concerts and events at Union Bank & Trust Pavilion. Just another opportunity to give back to those who support us.”
The 17-year-old venue has recently featured performances by Alabama Shakes, The Avett Brothers, Chris Stapleton, Lionel Richie and Twenty One Pilots.
Wednesday, Union Bank & Trust Pavilion announced its first concerts of 2018 will be:
- Friday, May 18: Primus returns for their third concert in the venue, with Mastodon and All Them Witches opening
- Sunday, May 20: Country music superstars Alabama, with Grand Ole Opry members Montgomery Gentry opening
The pavilion is the latest local venue to get a rebranding, after Farm Bureau Live at Virginia Beach was rebudded the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater in 2016.
