BLOG: The snow arrives tomorrow, here’s the timing and the totals

One of the biggest snowstorms in a long time is expected to bring us at least 5 inches of snow for the majority of the area. Starting with timing, this snow should get going around the mid to late morning on Wednesday. By noon we should be seeing areas with moderate to heavy snow falling. Then in the afternoon there will be heavy bands of snow developing across the Southside, North Carolina and occasionally for the Peninsula and Eastern Shore.

Road conditions will quickly become snow covered and difficult. For the afternoon, travel is not advised for the areas seeing the heaviest snow. Keep track of the roads with 511 Virginia. The snow will become light after 8pm Wednesday, overnight and Thursday our temperatures will stay below freezing with an additional half inch of snow possible late in the morning.
