Thursday was as nice as expected! We had dry air, lots of sun, and comfortable temperatures.
Today will be a decent day, but it won’t be as rosy as yesterday. We have high pressure sliding offshore with a developing warm front to our south.
We started off with lots of sunshine over the region. That allowed the temps to warm up fast. We were already in the 60s by 8am after starting in the 40s and 50s. Temps will continue to climb quickly today. High temps will aim for around 80 degrees.
It’s even possible that we’ll hit some low-mid 80s this afternoon. We’ll have a light southeast breeze with mostly to partly sunny skies. That southeast wind will allow for the humidity to climb. Dew points will get into the 50s and 60s by the afternoon. There will be some isolated showers popping up this afternoon, but the chance for getting them is low. By tomorrow the warm front will be to our north, and the cold front will be closing on from the northwest. The models show a few rounds of showers moving through the region. This could impact some of the many outdoor events that are going on. For now it looks like the first round will come through during the morning.
The scattered showers should move through fairly quickly, but there may be a few heavy showers. Then the models back things off from the late morning through the early afternoon. We’ll be mostly cloudy with a few breaks during that time.
By the mid-late afternoon round 2 is forecast to slide through the area.
At that point we’ll have warmed up to around 80 degrees.
Plus, dew points will be above 60. So we’ll have some fuel for a few thunderstorms along with the showers.
The last round of showers will arrive in the evening along with the cold front. That is expected during the late evening.
After that we’ll be done with the rain. We could see a couple tenths of an inch with a little more in spots, but remember… The showers will be scattered. So not everyone will get the rain.
Regardless, we’ll dry out on Sunday. Big-time!
Temps will drop too. High temps will only be in the upper 60s despite lots of sunshine.
After that we’ll warm up next week. Highs will be in the 70s Monday. Then we’ll be in the 80s Tuesday through at least Thursday.
