Yesterday felt like Summer (with pollen). It was definitely a warm day with high temps in the low-mid 80s.

High Temps Yesterday

It wrapped up a very warm month. March ended up over 4 degrees above average.

High Temps In March

There were definitely some very warm days, but we did also just wrap up a 4-day warm streak. We also just wrapped up a drier than normal March. We ended up over 2 inches below the average.

March Rainfall

We did get some rain last night. It wasn’t much for most of the region, but there was a little more between Newport News and Richmond.

24 Hour Rainfall

This was all ahead of a cold front. Most of the rain came in last night. It was heavy in some places for a time.

Rain Last Night

This morning there were only a couple of sprinkles leftover as the front slowly sank to the south.

Regional Weather Map

We’ll have clearing skies today. However, temps will drop big-time compared to yesterday. They will only be in the upper 50s this afternoon.

Forecast Temps Today

Winds will gust up to 25mph this morning. However, they should settle down as we go into the afternoon. They will run out of the north/northeast.

Wind Gusts Forecast

Tonight will be a bit chilly. Low temps will drop down to the low-mid 40s, but there will be some 30s inland. I doubt there will be frost inland, but I can’t completely rule it out. Tomorrow we’ll have some nice weather! We’ll be partly cloudy with high temps in the mid 60s.

Forecast Temps Tomorrow

The heat will bounce back (along with humidity) on Thursday. High temps will return to the low-mid 80s.

Temperature trend

Dew Points will rise to above 60 again as well.

Muggy Meter

So we’ll go back to some Summer-like weather for a few days. There won’t be much rain, but some isolated showers will be possible between late Friday and Sunday. I’ll have more on the next better rain chances in tomorrow’s weather blog.

While we’ll be fairly quiet here over the next few days, there will be more storms in the central U.S. today. They will push into the Midwest tomorrow. Severe weather will be possible if not likely. Snow will also be happening across some of the northern states.

GFS Model

It’s crazy how polarized the air temps will be with snow over some parts of the country while record heat will be possible in the south. We’ll see what the rest of April brings.
