Blog: Cool & breezy with a few showers

No doubt about it! Over the last couple of weeks we have had a lot of cool air for this time of year.

High Temps Last 2 Weeks

We did have a hot pocket for a couple of days, but then temps over the weekend dropped big-time. Yesterday, was a pretty nice day overall. We had a mix of sun and clouds with only a couple of spotty showers. Today won’t be as nice. High pressure is off to our northwest. However, there are a couple of areas of low pressure that are rising northeast along a stationary front (offshore).

Regional Weather Map

While we are on the cooler/drier side of the front. The lows keep pushing some moisture back to the west. So we will have a lot of clouds today. There will also be some isolated rain showers along with some drizzle at times.

Future Trak This Afternoon

There will be a northeast wind through the day. It will run at a solid 10-15mph with gusts up to 25mph.

Wind Gusts Today

This is all going to keep the temperatures down. Highs will only be in the mid 70s, and we may not even make it to that.

Forecast Temps Today

Between tonight and tomorrow there will be a lot of moisture in the air. We’ll have lots of clouds with drizzle and a few rain showers at times.

Future Trak Wednesday Afternoon

Wednesday will be another cool and breezy day. High temps will only be in the low-mid 70s.

Forecast Temps Tomorrow

This is about 10 degrees below average. Winds will stay up out of the northeast at 10-15mph with gusts to 25mph.

The low will start pushing away from our region between Wednesday night and Thursday. However, the cool marine layer will linger through that time. There will be spotty showers and drizzle into the morning Thursday.

Future Trak Thursday Morning

However, I am siding with the models that dry us out in the afternoon. If that happens, then we should be able to pop up to the mid-upper 70s.

Temperature Trend

Drier air and higher pressure should filter in by the weekend. We should have some pretty nice weather from Friday through Sunday. We may make it to 80 degrees by Sunday.

The northeast wind will create more tidal flooding today. It was nuisance tidal flooding yesterday, but we’ll have minor tidal flooding for the next 2-3 days.

Tidal Flooding Forecast

There’s no tropical systems in the Atlantic right now. It should stay quiet for a little while. I wonder if they will have to adjust this season’s forecast. Meanwhile, in the Pacific, tropical storm Kiko still looks like it will safely pass north of the Hawaiian islands.
