Last night we did have some scattered light rain showers (as expected).
Rainfall was very light for most. Amounts were a tenth of an inch or less. This was caused by a weak but fast-moving system. An area of low pressure and a cool front slid through overnight, but now it is out to sea.
High pressure will build in from the west today. We’ll have lots of sunshine with a few clouds. We had a nice break from the wind yesterday, but the breeze will pick up again today. It will run out of the northwest at 10-15mph with gusts to 25mph.
High temps will be closer to 60 degrees this afternoon.
It will be a nice day, but it will be cool at times with the breeze. Overnight is going to get chilly. We’ll have mostly clear skies with light and variable winds. Temps will drop down to the 30s and 40s.
There may be some frost in a few inland locations. So you should bring in the potted plants if you’ve had them out lately. Tomorrow through the day we’ll have lots of sunshine again. High pressure will be around. With the way it will line up it will create a light breeze out of the north/northeast. This will keep temps down overall. High temps will be in the upper 50s in the metro and near the shore, but there will be some 60s inland and south.
So while things will be below average here, the heat will be building over the central and western United States.
By Friday it’ll be our turn. The heat will slide east. We’ll have the winds pick up out of the south. High temps will rise to the low 70s.
We will have more moisture push back into the region. So we’ll have increasing clouds. There may be some isolated rain showers by Friday afternoon as a warm front lifts north. Overall, it should be a pretty good day. We’ll have very nice weather on Saturday. High temps will rise to the mid-upper 70s with partly cloudy skies.
We’ll also be warm on Sunday, but the models have trended wetter for that day. Now it looks like we’ll have some scattered rain showers (at the least).
The warmth will probably continue into Monday, but the rain will also continue. There may be some thunderstorms on that day. We’ll have more on that in tomorrow’s weather blog.
