Temperatures are 10 to 20 degrees colder this morning than they were yesterday. You will want a nice warm jacket all day, looking to the afternoon we will see increasing clouds and highs in the upper 40s.
A few sprinkles might develop across Northeast North Carolina this evening. The timing looks to be after 6pm and the light rain could continue until around midnight.
Since it is Groundhog Day, I’ll leave that prediction to the Groundhog, but the Climate Prediction Center is also giving us some insight on what our February might be like.
Right now the long range models are keeping us warmer, meaning an early arrival of Spring, with no strong signal on if we are going to see more or less rain. We do need more rain as much of the area is in a Moderate to Severe Drought. Drought Monitor
We have another chance for rain to develop this week. Wednesday and Thursday are looking like days where we could get some rain in our area. The models have to colder air and wintry weather staying to our north.
