Blog: A milder week ahead

Yesterday was really nice out! We had a good amount of sunshine through the day. High temps made it up into the mid 50s.

High Temps Yesterday

So we finally climbed out of the deep freeze. I didn’t even need my jacket most of the day. Today we will still be fairly mild, but we will definitely have a lot more clouds and moisture. There is a weak area of low pressure moving along a stationary front. Both are closer to our region than an area of high pressure that is offshore.

Regional Weather Map

South of the front there is a lot of moisture, but north of it the low levels are drier.

Today we’ll have a mix of sun and clouds with more sun to the north. There may be some isolated showers, but there will be a better chance for rain over northeast North Carolina.

Future Trak Midday Today

There may be a little clearing over southeast Virginia this afternoon, but clouds are forecast to linger over North Carolina with a few showers possible.

Future Trak This Afternoon

High temps will aim for the low 50s.

Forecast Temps Today

That will be a little less than yesterday probably due to the clouds. By tonight the low will kick out to sea, and the front will sink to the south. This will help to dry things out and create some clearing. So we’ll go to partly cloudy skies tonight with lows in the mid 30s.

Tomorrow high pressure will build back into the area. We’ll go back to lots of sunshine. It will be a little breezy with west/northwest winds running at 10-15mph with some gusts to at least 20mph. It will be a nice day except for that breeze.

Forecast Temps Tomorrow

If you like tomorrow then you’ll love Wednesday. We’ll have fair skies with high temps in the low 60s.

Temperature Trend

I’m optimistic that it will be an awesome day! However, you can see in the above graphic that temps drop quite a bit on Thursday. High temps will be back in the 40s. At least we’ll be dry. We’ll return to the 50s Friday and Saturday, but there will be some rain. I’ll talk more about that in tomorrow’s weather blog.
