(iSeeCars) – Toyota dominates the 2025 iSeeCars Longest-Lasting Cars study, securing 10 of the top 25 positions for vehicles most likely to hit 250,000 miles. The Toyota Sequoia leads the pack, earning the No. 1 ranking with a 39.1% predicted chance of reaching a quarter-million miles — more than eight times the industry average of 4.8%.

iSeeCars established its industry-leading Longest-Lasting Cars study in 2013. This year’s study analyzed over 174 million cars to determine which cars were most likely to continue operating for at least 250,000 miles. Eleven SUVs, seven sedans, six pickup trucks and one minivan make up the top 25 models.

“The 2025 iSeeCars Longest-Lasting Cars list features vehicles with between a 9.1% and 39.1% predicted chance of reaching 250,000 miles,” said iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer. “With the average car having a 4.8% chance of reaching 250,000 miles, even the lowest-ranked model, Acura’s MDX, is still nearly twice as likely to see that odometer reading. The top-ranked Toyota Sequoia is truly impressive. With a 39.1% predicted chance to reach 250,000 miles, the Sequoia is more than eight times as likely to hit that milestone as the average vehicle.”

Top 25 iSeeCars Longest-Lasting Cars: Toyotas and SUVs Dominate

SUVs make up nearly half of the spots on the overall iSeeCars Longest-Lasting cars rankings. Toyota leads with four utility vehicles, followed by Lexus with three, Honda with two, and both Acura and Chevrolet with one each. Seven sedans from four brands (Toyota, Lexus, Honda, and Acura) make it the second most prominent body style.

Pickup trucks also feature prominently on the list, with four full-size, light-duty models and two midsize models in the top 25. iSeeCars excluded heavy-duty trucks from the primary list of longest-lasting cars, but those models are included in the Longest-Lasting Trucks rankings (listed in a separate table).

*Excludes heavy-duty vehicles

“While SUVs are the most common vehicle type on the 2025 iSeeCars Longest-Lasting rankings, the frequency of sedans, trucks, and even one minivan suggests there’s a long-lasting model to meet every consumer need,” said Brauer. “Today’s high cost for both new and used cars can be discouraging for many buyers, but if you choose wisely you can get a lot of years and miles out of your next vehicle purchase.”

iSeeCars Longest-Lasting Pickup Trucks: Heavy-Duty Models and Toyota Top List

Trucks often face the harshest use cases from demanding buyers, particularly heavy-duty models. Thus it’s not surprising to see so many heavy-duty trucks ranking above average within the truck segment. What’s more impressive is the light-duty models ranking above average, including the Toyota’s Tundra and Tacoma and Honda’s Ridgeline.

iSeeCars Longest-Lasting SUVs: These 21 SUVs Are Better Than Average

The popularity of SUVs has grown dramatically over the past 20 years, with this body style now dominating the U.S. car market. An SUV’s ability to serve so many transportation needs is why consumers like them and why they tend to accumulate miles so rapidly. Below are 21 models that all have a higher-than-average predicted chance of reaching 250,000 miles, making them excellent options for consumers looking to accomplish a wide range of tasks over a long period of time and miles.

iSeeCars Longest-Lasting Passenger Cars: Durable Alternatives To Trucks and SUVs

Trucks and SUVs may be the most popular vehicles among U.S. consumers, but some buyers still prefer the smaller size, easier maneuverability, and higher fuel efficiency offered by sedans, coupes, and hatchbacks. These buyers shouldn’t have to compromise on lifespan, and the 17 models listed below all have an above-average predicted chance of reaching 250,000 miles.

iSeeCars Longest-Lasting Hybrids: The Age of the Durable Hybrid Has Arrived

Hybrid drivetrains were first introduced about 25 years ago, but the technology is rapidly gaining market share as mainstream models like the Toyota Camry and upcoming RAV4 go all-in on combining internal combustion engines with electric motors.

7Lexus ES (hybrid)7.5%0.8x

“This is the first year we’ve broken hybrids out as their own category for iSeeCars’ Longest-Lasting Cars rankings. While only seven models have sufficient data to predict their chance of hitting 250,000 miles, we expect the list of longest-lasting hybrids to expand rapidly in the next five years,” said Brauer.

“The cost of today’s vehicles makes their lifespan more important than ever for value-oriented shoppers,” said Brauer. “While many consumers aren’t interested in a long-term relationship with their car, if you can commit to one model and buy one with a long lifespan, you can save tens of thousands of dollars on your personal transportation costs.”

Methodology

iSeeCars.com analyzed data for over 174 million cars. The average odometer reading for each vehicle was calculated at each yearly age, and a proprietary model based on these average mileages was developed to estimate the probability that each vehicle would survive to various mileage thresholds. Heavy-duty vans and models with insufficient data were excluded from further analysis, except that heavy-duty trucks were included for the truck-specific analysis.
