Meteorologist Kristy Steward joined the Super Doppler 10 Weather Team in July 2025. However, she’s not a new face to Hampton Roads. Kristy moved to the area in 2021 as a meteorologist for the local CBS affiliate. She then took a brief break from TV and worked as a Public Affairs/Events Specialist for the U.S. Navy, Region Mid-Atlantic. Throughout her time in Hampton Roads, she has won two Emmys for her weather content and was runner-up for an Associated Press award for her coverage during the 2023 Virginia Beach tornado.
Prior to moving to Hampton Roads, Kristy was the morning and noon meteorologist at WNKY in Bowling Green, KY. While maintaining her main meteorologist duties at WNKY, she did a couple stints of anchoring, co-hosting, and being the meteorologist for their sister station WGTA in Atlanta, GA. She also started a weekly weather podcast with the evening meteorologist. While in Kentucky, Kristy was runner-up for “Best Weathercaster” in the state of Kentucky and the morning team she was part of won “Best Morning Newscast” by the Kentucky Broadcasters Association.
Kristy’s alma mater is Penn State University where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology and Atmospheric Science with a focus in Forecasting and Communications in 2018. Throughout her time in college, she began broadcasting as a freshman and participated in all six student-run shows. She also went on three cross-country storm chasing trips where she did experience a few tornadoes.
Kristy was born and raised in Cary, NC, but is very happy to have made Hampton Roads home.
