Brian Michigan

Meteorologist Brian Michigan joined the Super Doppler 10 Weather Team in March 2025 as the weekend morning meteorologist.

Brian grew up along the New Jersey shoreline in the town of Brick, located in Ocean County. His passion for weather began in his third-grade classroom, where he did a science project on different types of weather events. As time went on, Mother Nature continued to guide Brian toward his goal of becoming a meteorologist.

In 2011, a large nor’easter tracked up the East Coast, dumping over two feet of snow in Brian’s hometown. The following year, in October 2012, his passion for weather grew even stronger when Superstorm Sandy ravaged the Jersey Shore, causing him to evacuate his home during the peak of the storm. To this day, Sandy remains one of the most costly disasters in U.S. history, and it was the raw power of Mother Nature that inspired Brian to learn more about these devastating storms.

For his college years, Brian attended Pennsylvania State University, where he studied meteorology and atmospheric sciences. During his time at PSU, he got involved in the Campus Weather Service and various other organizations to build his skill set as a broadcast meteorologist. In May 2023, Brian graduated with a degree in meteorology and atmospheric sciences, with a focus on forecasting and communications. He then landed his first job as a broadcast meteorologist in Savannah, Georgia. Forecasting in the Southeast U.S. meant that Brian became experienced in severe weather and tropical systems. Some of the most impactful storms he covered include Hurricane Helene in September 2024 and Tropical Storm Debby earlier that year, which dumped over 20 inches of rain in some areas.

Outside of work, Brian is a passionate surfer and waterman who has spent much of his life in the water. He has also spent many summers as an ocean lifeguard, using his knowledge of the ocean and weather to plan his next surf session and help inform his community about staying safe while enjoying the beach.
