ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in Isle of Wight Monday afternoon.
Virginia State Police said they responded to the crash scene in the 1000 block of South Church Street around 3:30 p.m. Monday. The crash closed the Route 10 bypass which opened a day later on Tuesday.
The investigation determined the driver of a Honda Odyssey had slowed down to turn into a gas station, when his vehicle was struck from behind. The female front seat passenger in the Odyssey suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the impact, according to State Police.
The 17-year-old male driving the other vehicle was charged with unsafe speed for roadway conditions.
Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt, police said.
