MELFA, Va. (WAVY) — Multiple fire units responded to a fire at the Eastern Shore Yacht & Country Club on Friday night.
Dispatchers said units responded to the fire at 10:30 p.m. Friday evening. First arriving units from Melfa VFC found heavy smoke and fire conditions and requested additional help.

The building suffered extremely heavy damage with a large portion of the roof collapsing and over 200,000 gallons of water were used to combat the blaze.
Melfa, Painter, Wachapreague, Onancock, Tasley, Exmore, Nassawadox, Parksley and Bloxom fire crews responded to the fire.
The cause is under investigation.
