WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — Police say a patient at Eastern State Hospital attacked a nurse and sent her to the hospital.
26-year-old Eric Littles of Portsmouth is now in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
James City County police say on Friday afternoon a nurse was removing him from a restraint chair when he hit her in the head multiple times and slammed her head against a wall.
The 58-year-old woman was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for surgery.
She is home recovering.
Police say Littles was arrested for a similar incident in February.
He assaulted another employee at Eastern State, giving that person a concussion.
