VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — New developments in an officer-involved shooting in Virginia Beach reveal history between the suspect and police department.

Shontrina Fountain is charged with malicious wounding and assault on a law enforcement officer.

She’s accused of stabbing an employee at the Navy Federal Credit Union on Providence Road.

Later, police say she lunged at an officer while armed, and the officer fired.

10 On Your Side uncovered this is not Fountain’s first run in with the department.

In March of 2013, Fountain was pulled over in a public parking lot by a city officer when he saw her drift into another lane

But Fountain didn’t immediately stop. She repeatedly moved her car around and closer to the police vehicle.

When she did stop, Fountain said the officer threatened to use physical force and pepper spray if she didn’t comply with his requests.

According to court documents, Fountain then proceeded to lock her doors and call 911.

During the call, she refuses to end the call and repeatedly states that she does not feel safe and wants the incident recorded and documented.

After numerous attempts by dispatch officers to end the call,  Fountain spoke with the 911 supervisor who helped calm her down and end the almost 40 minute phone call.

In that case Fountain argued that evidence did not prove she intended to annoy or harass emergency personnel, and that she placed the call because she was frightened.

The court however convicted Fountain and she was fined $500 and her 30-day jail sentence was suspended on the condition of good behavior for two years.

In an appeal, the courts reversed and annulled the judgment of the trial court.
