CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — When you think of Oscar Smith football, your brain might immediately take you to Travis Johnson or Lonnie Andrews. You would be justified for thinking that, considering they’re both highlight machines in high-value positions that are also four-star college recruits.

However, senior wide receiver/defensive back Quali Price is definitely someone that opposing teams have to gameplan for on both sides of the ball.

“I describe my playstyle as real fun to watch,” said Price, who had 140 total yards of offense and a touchdown, along with a pick-six and four pass breakups in Smith’s Friday night win over Grassfield. “I’m going to give you your money’s worth if you come to the game.”

Price says he’s been playing both sides since he was a kid. Now, with the explosion of athletes on the high school and college level wanting to play both sides of the ball, he’s letting everyone out there know that he’s capable of doing both at the next level.

“To let college know I can play both sides,” Price said. “That’s what I do, I’ve been doing this. … I just play ball. I’m a good football player.”

Quali’s lone college offer at the moment comes from Virginia Tech. While he prepares for either Blacksburg or another college that comes knocking, he’s also gearing up to help a red hot Oscar Smith team look for back-to-back Class 6 state championships.

“That’s what everybody wants, the state,” Price said. “That’s what you play for. The long summers to the cold winters, that’s what it’s all for.”
