PORSTMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – The Coast Guard Cutter Spencer has returned to Portsmouth, Virginia after an 83-day patrol in the Caribbean and Windward Passage.

During the mission, the crew supported Operation Vigilant Sentry, working to deter unlawful migration and secure U.S. maritime borders. One major rescue involved safely transferring nearly 200 people from an overloaded vessel off the coast of Haiti.

The Spencer, a 270-foot medium endurance cutter, carries out vital missions including search and rescue, maritime law enforcement, and homeland security.
