NORFOLK, Va (WAVY) — The Norfolk State football team is back in game-week preparations after falling to Towson 27-7 in Michael Vick’s first game as head coach.

“I don’t take losses well, even though I understand it’s a part of the game,” Vick said.

The Spartans now turn their attention to rival Virginia State Saturday. Vick understands the magnitude of bouncing back from a loss, and moving forward.

“For the sake of my boys, I gotta make sure I keep my sanity and keep clarity in my mind for them,” Vick said. “Keep them level-headed, keep them believing, staying focused. You know, the bumps and bruises happen early and now we’re going to pick up the pieces. That’s what this journey is all about. It’s not about where you start, it’s where you finish.”

The Spartans kick off against the Trojans at 6 p.m. at Dick Price Stadium.
