VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach judge on Tuesday denied bond for Mijeul Reynolds Butler after being charged with sex crimes against children.
According to court documents, Butler, 28, was arrested Saturday, July 26 on charges of aggravated sexual battery with a victim under the age of 13 and carnal knowledge of a victim under the age of 13.

The documents state that on June 13, Butler recorded a video of himself pulling up the skort of a 7-year-old girl. Butler then sent the video to a friend, saying that the girl was “putting her hands between his legs.”
Recently, Butler was in the spotlight due to another case, which was first introduced by a man from the Predator Poachers group, Alex Rosen. Predator Poachers is a group of people who work to stop alleged online predators by pretending to be a child and arranging a time to meet. Then, they confront the alleged predator.
Rosen said that on July 23, Butler admitted to trying to meet up with an undercover decoy who was posing as a 13-year-old girl. Court documents state Butler started talking with the undercover decoy on July 19.
During the conversation with Butler, according to the documents, Butler was made aware of the undercover decoy’s supposed age, but still planned to meet in the 100 block of South Budding Road to engage in sexual acts. Police were called, but they did not arrest Butler at the location, according to video recorded by Predator Poachers. Police said they did interview Butler later on about the confrontation.
In court documents, Virginia Beach Police said when they interviewed Butler, he allegedly admitted to previously letting a 7-year-old child touch him over his clothing, and he pulled up the child’s clothing on video.
Family of the victim told 10 On Your Side she was 6-years-old and Butler was staying with them for a short while. They said they had no idea of his alleged behavior.
According to a Virginia Beach prosecutor, Butler was in the U.S. Army before recently being discharged several months ago. She also stressed he should stay behind bars because the Commonwealth believes more charges may be coming against Butler after they retrieve more information from his phone.
Butler is expected to be back in court Sept. 9 for a preliminary hearing.
