NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Norfolk International Airport has a new tool to make it easier for travelers to find a parking space.

When you log on to the airport’s website, you will now be greeted with a feature that shows near real-time parking availability at the airport’s four garages and one daily surface lot.

It launched just in time for the 4th of July holiday weekend.

According to airport spokesman Chris Jones, they are using tracking equipment in the lots and garages to keep a live tally of available spots. These figures are updated every five minutes or so.

There is also a feature that allows you to reserve and pre-pay for your parking spot. According to the airport, there are discounts when you use this feature. It works by adding your anticipated entry and exit date and time. Any unused portion of the reservation due to an early exit will be automatically refunded.
