FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A woman has been arrested in Florence County after giving birth to a stillborn baby and disposing of the remains by putting them in a plastic bag and a dumpster, the sheriff’s office said.
Byresha Asia Williams, 31, was arrested Thursday and charged with desecration of human remains. She remains in the Florence County Detention Center as she awaits a bond hearing.
During the dates of June 17 and June 18, Williams is accused of disposing of the remains of her stillborn baby by placing them in a dumpster at the Super 8 Hotel on W. Palmetto Street in the Florence area, deputies said.
Under South Carolina law, Williams could face up to 10 years in prison.
