Finally, today we are going to get a break from the high heat and humidity. The trade-off is that we are going to have some heavy rain and thunderstorms. A cool front is working towards the region, but it will stall out soon.

We started the day with lots of clouds and some spotty showers. However, as we go through the day we are going to develop scattered showers and thunderstorms.

After we heat things up this afternoon there could be some real downpours.

These showers and storms will continue into the evening hours.

Some of these could really slow down the evening commute. The showers and storms will then wind down by the later evening. Before things wrap-up we could see a half inch of rainfall up to two inches.

There may be some isolated higher amounts which could lead to some localized flooding. This is why there is a Flood Watch for part of the area.

The good news is that the extra clouds and the scattered showers and storms will keep the temperatures down. High temps will be in the mid 80s. It’s possible that the heavy rain could even drop the temperatures some during the afternoon.

However, as mentioned, it will still be humid. Dew points are in the low 70s.

There will be a light southwest breeze through the day. So when it’s not raining, then that might prop up the temps a bit.
Tomorrow the cool front will sink to our south slowly. It could create some isolated showers or storms. Our model has that forming around midday and then dropping south.

Overall though we’ll be drier with clearing skies. High temps will be in the upper 80s to near 90. However, the humidity should drop some more.

A second cool front will move through between Thursday evening and Friday morning. It’s that boundary that will deliver the much more comfortable air. High temps will be in the upper 80s Friday, but the humidity should be a lot lower.

We’ll have some great weather then for the 4th of July. We’ll be mostly sunny through the day with high temps in the upper 80s to near 90. During the evening we’ll have fair skies and temps in the 80s. We’ll stay dry on Saturday with lots of sunshine. Highs will be in the upper 80s. However, by Sunday both the temps and the humidity will increase again. At least the weather looks quiet for now. Check back for updates.
