(WAVY) — This year’s Hampton Roads Pride weekend will take place over three days with a number of events in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, billing itself as “one unforgettable celebration.”
Friday, June 20
The 12th annual Pride Block Party, an event for ages 18 and up, takes place Friday as the NorVa is transformed into a glittering spectacle of glamour and extravagance. It will have DJ sets from local artists along with drag queens, with doors open for dancing at 7 p.m. Go here for ticket information.
Saturday, June 21
The 37th annual PrideFest Boat Parade, billed as the nation’s only Pride Boat Parade, takes place at noon Saturday at Town Point Park in Norfolk and is free. It will include entertainment from local and regional LGBT+ talent, family zone games and activities, Club PrideFest, a history and equality experience, food vendors and more. For more information, go here. It will be followed by an official PrideFest after-party at the Waterside District. Though the event is free, those wanting to take park are encouraged to RSVP.
Sunday, June 22
The Ultimate Pride Drag Brunch will start at 11 a.m. Sunday. It will be hosted by Chanel Clitopatra at The Rainbow Cactus at 475 S. Lynnhaven Road in Virginia Beach with special guest Akeria C. Davenport of RuPaul’s Drag Race. The event is for ages 21 and up. Tickets are available here.
Also Sunday is the 757 Pride March at 3 p.m. Sunday at 17th Street Park at 1701 Atlantic Ave. in Virginia Beach. It will celebrate unity, diversity and LGBTQ+ pride. The march will take place along the Oceanfront boardwalk. To register for the march, go here. The event is free.
Pride at the Beach will take place at 4 p.m. Sunday at Neptune’s Park in Virginia Beach, where the march ends and will flow into an evening of live performances, food and more.
