HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Two teens, 16 and 15, were arrested after a student was robbed on the way to the bus stop Thursday morning, Hampton Police confirmed.

Police received a call just before 7:30 a.m. in reference to a robbery in the 5100 block of Goldsboro Drive, near Orcutt Avenue. The investigation determined the suspect approached a 17-year-old walking to their bus stop.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit said while they are continuing their investigation, no weapon was used.

Police said the suspects both implied they had a weapon and demanded property of the victim. The pair then physically assaulted the victim. Both of the suspects fled the scene after taking the victim’s property using a vehicle which was reported stolen earlier that same morning.

Shortly after fleeing the scene, officers located the vehicle near the intersection of Big Bethel Road and Burton Street. After attempting to initiate a traffic stop, a pursuit began.

The suspect vehicle eventually crashed at the end of Wimbledon Terrace, where the two suspects then attempted to flee on foot, but were apprehended by officers at the scene.

As a result of the incident, the 16-year-old was charged with robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of stolen property, obstruction fleeing from law enforcement, conspiracy to commit a felony, wearing a mask in public and assault by mob.

The 15-year-old was charged with robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of stolen property, obstruction fleeing from law enforcement, conspiracy to commit a felony, providing false information to law enforcement, assault by mob and two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer.

A WAVY viewer captured video from her window showing the end of the police pursuit and arrest. The video has been muted.
