CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Tornado warnings are being issued in multiple Central Virginia localities Friday evening.
At 7:37 p.m. on Friday, May 30, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located in Newland.
The following localities were under a tornado warning until 8:15 p.m. on Friday:
- Richmond County
Other counties that were previously under a tornado warning include Chesterfield, Amelia, Dinwiddie, Nottoway, King and Queen and Essex counties.
During the previous tornado warning in Chesterfield and nearby localities, an 8News viewer sent in photos of what looks like a funneling cloud, as seen from Hanover County.


If you are in any of the areas under a tornado warning, you should take cover immediately. Move to a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of a building, avoiding windows.
If you are outside, move to the closest stable shelter to protect yourself from flying debris.
